 Roatan is home to the stunning Mesoamerican Barrier Reef, teeming with vibrant marine life. The Naturalist Diver course changes how you look at the underwater world by teaching you to view it through the eyes of a scientist. Instead of just seeing “fish and coral,” you will learn to identify different fish families, understand complex symbiotic relationships, and recognize how marine organisms interact with each other and their environment.

 Any certified diver from the age of 10 can enroll in this course. It is the ultimate specialty for animal lovers, eco-conscious divers, and anyone who wants to get more out of their dives by truly understanding what they are looking at. If you want to transform from a passive observer into an active underwater naturalist, this course is for you.

The Naturalist Diver course is an eye-opening, 1-day specialty that combines fascinating marine ecology theory with practical observation in the water. Your digital E-Learning materials will be sent to you ahead of time so you can learn the basics before stepping foot in the dive shop.
A typical course consists of:
  • Digital theory chapters covering fish identification, coral reef ecosystems, and responsible diving practices
  • 2 open water boat dives focused on observing marine behaviors, identifying local species, and practicing eco-friendly diving techniques

The course fee of US$170 (+ tax) is fully inclusive. It covers your E-Learning materials, high-quality dive equipment rental, and your digital Naturalist Diver Specialty certification card upon graduation.

Once certified, your dives will become infinitely more rewarding. You will be able to easily identify the marine life you encounter and understand their behaviors, making you a much savvier diver and travel companion.
